FIRST DUMBIEDYKES TRIP, 2016, TO CALLANDER WOODS
by James L.S, Carter
In networked pools that criss-cross and criss-cross
Zigzagging the dramatic rocks among,
Isosceloids on black slabs or white froths'
Backwater byways hidden stagnant flung
Pour over and pour under sculpted screes:
The secret carving of some centuries.
Here flushed the bridge in year 2004
Over the spating glen's undying roar.
Here is the bittern's interception-plunge
To wildly Rob Roy leaping salmon flung
Through woodland paths by Breacclinn Waterfall,
Through forest clearance hill-views large or small,
Through scatter'd foxgloves, buttercups and grasses
Traipse Dumbiedykes Group Writers lads and lasses,
Who can agree with one united shout,
"We all enjoyed our wonderful day out!"
