MY NOTES ON GENDER RECOGNITION --Tom Leonard

TERFs like J.K. Rowling should be educated to realise that what is a pastime for them

can be a matter of life and death for transgender people

                                                            My ex-partner Nicola

HERE ARE MY PERSONAL NOTES, FOLLOWING THE RE-INTRODUCTION

OF THE GENDER RECOGNITION BILL IN THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT.

I HOPE THAT THE VARIOUS TERF MSPs WILL READ THEM:

(A) Any person whether born female, male, or third gender(intersex), has the unalienable  right

to be identified by Society as of their chosen gender whatever that may be, and to be treated

equitably e.g. in work, family, housing, and religious situations (whether they have chosen to transition

to a gender presentation of their choice or not)

(B) Any person should be able to declare their gender without further ado.

(C) Any busy-body or politician (e.g. TERF) who tries to interfere in the lives of

transgender people e.g by objecting to gender identities, is likely to cause the

transgender people considerable psychological harm (to the point of deep

depression or suicidal ideation) , and should therefore be regarded as committing a

 criminal offence.

(D)TERFs should be educated to realize that what is a pastime for them can be a

matter of life and death for transgender people

(E) Any religious or educational institution or political organisation should be required by

law to be totally accepting and supportive of transgender people and their gender choices.

(G) All genders should be treated equally in terms of employment, wages, salaries,

  benefits and pensions,

GENDER ROLES AMONG THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF NORTH AMERICA

There is reference to gender variant people being accepted in Kalapuya culture. A Kalapuya spiritual person named Ci'mxin is recalled by John B. Hudson in his interviews from the Kalapuya Texts:

They would say "He is a man (in body), he has changed to a woman (in dress and manner of life). But he is not a woman (in body). It is his spirit-power it is said that has told him, You become woman. You are always to wear your (woman's) dress just like women. That is the way you must always do."[24]

Inuit[edit]

Arvilingjuarmiut[edit]

The Arvilingjuarmiut, also known as Netsilik, are Inuit who live mainly in Kugaaruk and Gjoa HavenNunavut, Canada. They follow the tradition of kipijuituq, which refers to instances where predominantly biologically male infants are raised as females. Often the decision for an infant to become Kipijuituq is left to the grandparents based on the reactions of the infant in the womb.[26] Children would later go on to choose their respective genders in their pubescent years once they have undergone a rite of passage that includes hunting animals.[26] Similar in concept is sipiniq from the Igloolik and Nunavik areas.[27]

Aranu’tiq[edit]

Aranu’tiq is a fluid category among the Chugach, an Alutiiq people from Alaska, that neither conforms to masculine or feminine categories.[28] Gender expression is fluid and children typically dress in a combination of both masculine and feminine clothing.[28] Newborn babies are not regarded as new humans but rather as tarnina or inuusia which refers to their soul, personality, shade and are named after an older deceased relative as a way of reincarnation as the relationship between the child and others would go on to match those of the deceased.[29]

Navajo[edit]

The third gender role of nádleehi (meaning "one who is transformed" or "one who changes"), beyond contemporary Anglo-American definition limits of gender, is part of the Navajo Nation society, a "two-spirit" cultural role. The renowned 19th century Navajo artist Hosteen Klah (1849–1896) is an example.[30][31][32]

Motor Regulation and Pain in Patients with ADHD

According to research supported by the National Institutes of Health (USA)

MOTOR REGULATION AND PAIN IN PATIENTS WITH ADHD

Most children who are diagnosed with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have moderate-to-severe motor problems using the Motor Function Neurological Assessment battery (MFNU). The MFNU focuses on specific muscle adjustment problems associated with ADHD, especially motor inhibition problems and high muscle tone. Here we investigated whether adults with ADHD/hyperkinetic disorder (HKD) have similar motor problems. In our clinical experience, adults with ADHD often complain about back, shoulder, hip, and leg pain. We also investigate reported pain in adults with ADHD.

NEUROMUSCULAR REGULATION PROBLEMS IN ADHD

Our research also show that adults with ADHD experience a significantly higher level of pain and more widespread pain compared to non-ADHD controls. This might indicate that pain is a long-term secondary effect of heightened muscle tone and restricted movement associated with the ADHD condition.

                                                                          BBC REPORT

Just a few weeks ago it seemed Covid was at last losing its grip on our lives.

Under the Scottish government's strategic framework for managing Covid, Monday 21 March was meant to be the date when the last legal restrictions would be lifted.

Now, against a backdrop of surging cases, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that face coverings will be required in shops and on public transport until early April.

NEW RECORD: ONE IN FOURTEEN SCOTS HAD COVID LAST WEEK

BBC (18/03/22)

One in 14 people in Scotland had Covid last week, a new record high, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The latest weekly ONS sampling suggest 376,300 Scots had the virus in the week ending 12 March, and the highest rate in the UK.

The latest surge is believed to be driven the more infectious BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron.

The reproduction or R number in Scotland has also risen, and is now thought to be between 1 and 1.3.

The R number is a measure of how many other people will have the virus passed on to them by a single infected person.

The number of people in hospital with Covid now stands at 2,050, only just below the peak of 2,053 seen in January 2021.

The ONS weekly survey is increasingly relied upon for monitoring the spread of Covid because of suspicions that not all positive lateral flow tests are reported.

For the second week in a row, the ONS data indicates the highest level of Covid in Scotland since sampling began in autumn 2020, with the percentage infected at 7.15%, up from 5.7% last week.

Professor Sir Gregor Smith said about 85% of cases in Scotland were thought to be the BA.2 variant.

The World Health Organisation has said BA.2 is more transmissible than the original BA.1 Omicron strain, which emerged in Scotland in December.

However there is no evidence to suggest it is any more severe.

                                            COVID EUGENICS ALERT (WESTMINSTER)

There are certainly eugenicists ( e.g. Toby Young and maybe Boris Johnson, see TORY EUGENICISTS) who may be orchestrating a eugenics program out of Westminster by encouraging the COVID restrictions to be raised too early, and thereby cruelly discriminating against our sick, elderly, and vulnerable, many of whom think that it is now safe to go out unprotected, and many of whom suffer from pre-conditions.

Unfortunately, Galtonian Eugenics (term coined in 1883) is still rife nowadays e.g. the stuff coming out of Trinity College Cambridge relating to the mistreatment of our autistic children, See EUGENICS, CRUELTY AND AUTISM

Distinctive planned towns

The pink and grey-tinged granite buildings and slated roofs of designed villages and small towns, dating mainly from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, are an integral part of the landscape. Nestled unobtrusively in the glens and straths, usually well-sheltered with trees, they provide a reassuring solidity. They are rural in character having no high-rise buildings or city traffic and are a reminder of historical and social context. Although each planned settlement has its own character and layout, they all have a main central street, often with geometric streets running perpendicular. Typically there is a treelined square, surrounded by large, public, stone buildings.

                        A Secret History (Paperback)

Patrick Baker has devoted years to rediscovering this history, searching remote mountain crags and finding fascinating relics of the dramas and tragedies of the past. He comes across the high-level shelters of the plateau - the refuges once used by generations of climbers, but now crumbling into obscurity. Elsewhere, he finds the skeletal remains of aircraft debris, an ancient gem mine, an outlaw's hideaway and a mysterious aristocratic settlement. He wanders the hills in search of the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdui, geological oddities, and the elusive Scottish wildcat.

The result of his quest is a unique travelogue that explores the human impact of this stunning landscape, the story of the early days of mountaineering in the Cairngorms and the secrets of a past which is stranger than fiction.

The Cairngorms feature the highest, coldest and snowiest plateaus in the British Isles and are home to five of the six highest mountains in Scotland:[19]

There are no public roads through the Cairngorms, and all the public roads in the general area either skirt the Cairngorms or stop short, providing access to them only. From the south and south-east, motorised access ends at Linn of Dee, or Allanaquoich. From the north-west, a road passes CoylumbridgeGlenmore and the Sugarbowl to end at the car park at the Cairngorm Mountain ski resort.[12] The majority of hill-walkers access the range from these road ends.[1

My Notes on Evolution

Evolution is a process that results in changes in the genetic material of a population over time Evolution reflects the adaptations of organisms to their changing environments and can result in altered genes, novel traits, and new species.

      See nature.com/SCITABLE

According to video 'evolution is results in the change in the frequencies in a population of certain gene variants over time'

(this would be very difficult to detect with any degree of statistical certainty, even if multinomial or

 related sampling assumptions are appropriate)

gene variant is a permanent change in the DNA sequence that makes up a gene. This type of genetic change used to be known as a gene mutation, .

what kinds of gene variants are possible?

Gabriel Boric Font (Spanish: [ɡaˈβɾjel ˈβoɾitʃ font];[a] born 11 February 1986)[3] is the 36th and current President of Chile, serving since 11 March 2022.

Boric studied in the Faculty of Law at the University of Chile, and was the president of the University of Chile Student Federation from 2011 to 2012.[4][5][6] As a student representative, he became one of the leading figures of the 2011–2013 Chilean student protests. Boric was twice elected to the Chamber of Deputies representing the Magallanes and Antarctic district, first as an independent candidate in 2013 and then in 2017 as part of the Broad Front, a left-wing coalition he created with several other parties. He is a founding member of Social Convergence, which was formed in 2018 and is one of the constituent parties of Broad Front.[7]
