A MESSAGE FROM PROFESSOR MANABU ASAI

Dear Dr. Leonard, Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to show my respect to you and your works. Inspired by your idea on the matrix exponential covariance model, my co-author(s) and I wrote several papers applying it to multivariate volatility analysis. 1. “Forecasting Co-Volatilities via Factor Models with Asymmetry and Long Memory in Realized Covariance” (with Michael McAleer), to appear in Journal of Econometrics. 2. “Matrix Exponential Stochastic Volatility with Cross Leverage ” (with Tsunehiro Ishihara and Yasuhiro Omori), to appear in Computational Statistics & Data Analysis. 3. “Long Memory and Asymmetry for Matrix-Exponential Dynamic Correlation Processes” (with Mike K.P. So), Journal of Time Series Econometrics, 2015, 7(1), 69-94. 4. “Multivariate Stochastic Volatility” (with Siddhartha Chib and Yasuhiro Omori), in: T.G. Andersen, R.A. Davis, J.-P. Kreiss and T. Mikosch (eds.), Handbook of Financial Time Series, Springer-Verlag, New York, 2009, 365-40. 5. “Multivariate Stochastic Volatility: A Review”, (with Jun Yu and Michael McAleer), Econometric Reviews, 2006, 25(2-3), 145-175. I pray for your increasing health and long life. Kind regards, Manabu Asai

THE TRUE OLYMPIANS---A CALL TO ARMS !!

THE TRUE OLYMPIANS---A CALL TO ARMS !!

                                                           Thomas Hoskyns Leonard

Blue Cameron and his fellow amassholes

Sat with the pedotwats on their chamberpots

                                   In sorry Westminster,

                                   Unredeeming their souls,

Deciding how their cuts to best administer

To send the disabled from their kindly homes

Into homes where Lucifer forever roams.

Outside the forces of good were forever gathering,

In wheelchairs, on crutches, not expecting a splattering.

While Cameron in the Commons picked his arse,

The true Olympians turned the Mets into a ridiculous farce.

                                  Breaking through the ante-chambers,

They performed all sorts of capers,

And rushed forwards Black Rod's door to break,

Casting the Janners aside like an encroaching snake.

But the Feds took their psych meds

And turned upon the noble throng,

Crushing them without prayer or song.

But the legless and otherwise disabled

Are our true heroes who have enabled

The blind to see and the hearts to pour

Humanity upon this stricken nation once more.

Let us strike the eugenics consortium down while the iron is hot

Or we'll never, in our Monsanto-induced haze, know what's what

A Call-to-Arms, that is what the brave paraplegics called.

Let us all take to the streets until Kafka's Castle falls.

                                            SONG---BROTHERS IN ARMS

From Mary Maddock of Cork, Ireland, our noble sister in arms

THE MISSIONARIES OF CHARITY

Clayton James Johnson Many of the Christian missionaries, both Catholic and protestant, were influenced by the eugenics theories at the height of imperialism. Many of the mental institutions, and also the native residential facilities here in Canada, were religiously affiliated. Obviously, these were very secularist theories, but many branches of Christianity still conformed to them in order to try to gain respectability, all in the name of service.

The situation nowadays is quite different. Those such as the Christian humanists have also influenced Christianity. Ironically, it is sometimes the secular and Christian Left that is still influenced by certain material ideologies, usually in the name of mental health.

Personally, I have explored a variety of religious traditions over the years. I have seen a few large and vibrant protestant or Anglican churches, as well as a few small churches that were still vibrant, somehow. Too often, though, these smaller churches are too inward looking. There have even been studies done on the cycle from growth to decline. So, in spite of its flaws and imperfections, I still attend a Catholic Church affiliated with the Jesuits. It seems more authentic, but that's just me smile emoticon
