                                  SCOTTISH LABOUR: EDINBURGH NORTH AND LEITH

        I VOTE IN THIS CONSTITUENCY AND HAVE PREVIOUSLY
        VOTED LABOUR. I WAS BROUGHT UP OLD LABOUR BY MY FATHER
        AND GRANDFATHER BEFORE ME.

        Here are the members of the current constituency committee for Edinburgh
        North and Leith. During the early evening of Wednesday 17th October
        2018 one of the committee members who I will refer to as X attached
        him/herself to my conversation group in bar  in Edinburgh's LGBT community. 

        The conversation seemed to largely proceed largely as a mixture of a 
        split-brained monologue by X, and a dialogue by X with Y, a gentleman with 
         extremely right wing and anti-immigrant, though  honestly expressed views. 
         The monologue was (by no means for the first time) mixed with a number of  
         obscenities.e.g. directed towards the highly courteous, hardworking and
         very young barman.

                   I was amazed that the only political content of the diatribe seemed to be 
         from the far right. For example, X thought that Margaret Thatcher's leadership
         was good for the country, did nothing to refute Y's contention  that the miners
          needed to be defeated and was in broad agreement with Y that immigration should be
           much more strictly controlled.

          X had previously, according to his/her shady, anti- Pakistani friend Z, asked a 
          hard-working Polish man, while he was getting racially abused by a Scottish lady,
          gentleman, 'when he would be going home?'

                Neither X and Y responded at all to my remarks, during the early evening
          conversation,to the effect that 'the striking Bilston miners should be much lauded 
          and celebrated', 'all countries should be free of frontiers', and 'maybe Maggie 
          Snatcher's brain is....'.

                Very sadly, Edinburgh's LGBT Community boasts an increasing number of
           Trumpists, neo-fascists, and people coming from the far right. 

           The ubiquitous X is, in general terms, helping to reform the socio-economics 
          policies of Scottish Labour with the assistance of people within this 
          sub-community. X conducts Labour Party business in the bar, for example by 
         discussing mooted changes in the benefits system for the elderly with his/her
          close confidant Y while everybody else feels encourage to listen in. 

                A number of weeks ago, X appeared to request to interview me, via his/her shady 
         intermediary Z,regarding my knowledge of the LGBT community, while X was 
         reportedly pretending  to be an investigative reporter. What sort of tomfoolery that 
         was about Heaven only knows! 

               However a background check by a 'peace' organisation to which I am 
         vaguely associated produced some dumbfounding results. X's Facebook likes
         were mainly right wing, and included Teresa May, the Orange Order, organisations
         associated with the SDL, and an apparently reactionary Glasgow Rangers group,

                  I understand that the Parliamentary Candidate Gordon Munro, and the 
        committee co-chair Steven Howson have been made aware of at least part of this 
        problem, but without adequate response,

                 So what an Earth is happening in Edinburgh North and Leith, and will Scottish 
        Labour ever achieve decent Socialist ideals? Methinks Aneurin Bevin must be 
        turning in his grave.

                FRIDAY 19th OCTOBER: I have received a somewhat hostile response to this
       Blog post from one of the committee co-chairs, by Facebook messaging. These people are responsible to both their constituents and the LGBT community. I challenge them to respond on a COMMENT following this post, for all and sundry to see.
